Adam Levine Honors Late ‘Voice’ Contestant Christina Grimmie With Moving ‘Hey Jude’ Tribute

Christina Grimmie‘s legacy came through loud and clear on last night’s (April 25) The Voice episode nearly a year after the former contestant was shot dead by a crazed fan.

As part of the broadcast, Grimmie’s former coach Adam Levine spoke directly to Grimmie’s mother, sister and father, and explained how much he missed the “Invisible” singer.

“God, I loved her so much,” he said. “I am talking to you guys specifically, I’m talking to everybody. I miss her. It’s unfair that she’s not here. We’re gonna be singing a little song tonight, and I’m gonna be singing every word to her in her honor.”

Levine and his team proceeded to deliver a moving rendition of The Beatles’ 1968 hit “Hey Jude.” Then, to ensure Grimmie’s memory remained alive, Voice host Carson Daly made a special announcement.

“Tonight, in memory of our good friend and along with Christina’s family, we’re honored to help announce the creation of the Christina Grimmie Foundation, benefiting those impacted by gun violence and families, just like her own, affected by breast cancer,” he said. “Thank you for letting us be a part of this very important moment. And Christina, we feel your spirit here at The Voice every single day and we love and miss you dearly.”
