When Kim Kardashian and her sisters took over Chelsea Handler's late night talk show 'Chelsea Lately' on Monday night, they made some interesting comments about Amanda Bynes' recent antics -- comments that her parents didn't care for at all.

"Am I the only one that is obsessed with her new makeover? I think she looks amazing," Kim told the studio audience. Sister Khloe agreed, adding that it wasn't abnormal to wear fishnets to the gym.

Thanks for that image, Khloe.

Now Radar Online reports that Rick and Lynn Bynes are seething, with an insider saying, “They thought the remarks Kim made were in poor taste and are very upset about it."

"It doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at Amanda Bynes and surmise she is having some sort of crisis," the source added, completely shooting down next week's planned guest editorial from theoretical physicist Lawrence Krauss on Amanda's gym routines.

Damn you, Source.

“Her makeover is just one example of her troubling behavior. Her parents just wish the media would leave Amanda alone, because it’s only making the situation worse. Amanda is lost and she refuses to get help," the anonymous tattletale continued.

To make matters worse, her parents feel helpless because, as it turns out, Amanda Bynes is an adult. (I KNOW, RIGHT?)

After the Kardashian kompliments, Amanda directed a tweet with lavish praise back at the sisters (and also kinda maybe called Kim fat, but who knows):

“Amanda’s parents hope that people, including Kim, would show empathy towards their daughter at this time," the source continued. “Even if Kim was joking about Amanda’s appearance, it really isn’t funny. Amanda is in trouble and she doesn’t need to be a punch line in a joke.”

We don't think Kim Kardashian would joke about that. It's not like she's a vapid or superficial person. She cares, you guys. But on the off chance she was joking, let's hope Bruce Jenner hasn't blown his retainer money on face putty again.

And in the meantime, Amanda has apparently seen the latest from her parental units and weighed in via (what else?) Twitter:
