Amy Winehouse Handwritten Notes to Be Published in Father’s Book

A selection of Amy Winehouse‘s touching handwritten letters to her father will be published in Mitch Winehouse’s forthcoming book, ‘Amy, My Daughter.’

Fans will get a glimpse of the late singer’s true personality when they lay eyes on several letters she sent to her dad while she was far from home. One note, obtained by the New York Post, was written on Valentine’s Day in 2003, while Amy was recording her debut album, ‘Frank,’ in Miami, Fla.

She wrote: “Dear Daddy, I love you so much and can’t wait to see you again in a few weeks. I’m working, and I haven’t spent a penny. A few thousand dollars have gone, but no pennies as such.”

Although email was readily available to the star, she chose to pen handwritten correspondence instead. According to the Post, Amy wrote dozens of letters to her dad, beginning at age 12. Despite her father’s infidelities, the pair were close.

“She phoned me three times a day, every day, even when she was at her worst with the drugs,” Mitch said in 2011.

The ‘Rehab’ singer died last year on July 23 after consuming a lethal amount of alcohol. She was 27 years old. ‘Amy, My Daughter’ will be released on June 26 by It Books.
