Angelina Jolie Bans Rihanna From Kids’ Playlists

Rihanna is one of the most popular pop stars ever, but that doesn’t mean everyone is a fan. Despite her own bizarre pre-Brad Pitt history (complete with blood vials and brother kissing), Angelina Jolie doesn’t particularly like Rihanna’s brand of raunch and controversy.

Star (via The Telegraph) reports that the philanthropist and mom of six was pretty horrified when she heard that daughter Zahara, 7, and son Pax, 8, were listening to RiRi’s extra-controversial track, ‘Birthday Cake.’

“Pax was singing the lyrics to ‘Birthday Cake’ and laughing hysterically at the curse words,” a spy said. “Angie grew up pretty fast and she wants her kids to avoid that same mistake.” The source dished that Jolie and Pitt immediately put parental blocks on the kids’ music and began monitoring their Spotify playlists and web browsers a lot more closely.

Rihanna has expressed more than once that she doesn’t want to be a rolemodel (something she demonstrates with her frequently profane and often scantily clad Twitter use to boot) and that parents shouldn’t take their young children and teens to her shows. Considering that Chris Brown‘s verse on the track begins with “Girl, I wanna f— you right now,” Jolie’s actions are perfectly in line with both good parenting and RiRi’s own wishes. Rihanna shouldn’t necessarily have to censor herself just because she has younger listeners, because that could both stifle her growth as an artist and alienate her adult fans.

Do you think parents should let kids listen to Rihanna’s records? Do you think she has a responsibility to be a rolemodel? Tell us in the comments!
