Amazing Teachers at VISD

I love reading those heartwarming facebook posts that make you smile. You know the ones that you want to hit triple like on!! Last night I came across one from a friend I’ve had since high school, Stephanie.  She posted a photo of a letter that was sent home with her daughter, Bella, from the 5th grade  teachers at Chandler Elementary School in Victoria. The letter was reminding the students that their teacher was proud of them and understood how the Starr testing could be overwhelming. The letter also reminded the students that what is important is their talent, kindness, and traits they have. The letter ended telling the student that the test doesn’t show how awesome of a human being that we see you growing into.

Wednesday Clue for Treasure Hunt

Congrats to Krystle Shelton for finding Tuesday's clue. She won a gift certfiicate to Torin Bales! Torin Bales, Victoria Main Street Program and Townsquare Media Radio stations have teamed up to give you a treasure hunt in Downtown Victoria. The clues will be sending you throughout downtown Victoria. Congrats to Kayle Koening, Kory Sutton, Rebecca Copeland, Lynlea Canion, Clarissa Meik, Sarah Partida, and Krystle Shelton!

Here is Wednesday clue: posted between 10:30-11:30am.

Contestants are to find the box and immediately take a picture of finding the box on social media through Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and tag the post #torinbalestreasurehunt. Then, the person who finds the treasure is to go to Torin Bales Fine Jewelry by 6pm that same day to pick up

Shake, Falkenstine Named Athletes of the Year

University of Houston-Victoria sophomore Heather Shake of Pearland and senior Nathan Falkenstine of Houston, were named the 2015 UHV Athletes of the Year on Sunday during the annual UHV Jaguars athlete awards banquet held at Victoria Educational Gardens Pavilion located at the Victoria Regional Airport..

After a stellar freshman year where she became the first UHV women’s golfer to win a conference championship and advance to the NAIA National Championships, she continued that success on to this year.

She has finished in the top five in all six events she has played in and has helped lead the Jaguars to four team titles. She is also currently ranked No. 5 in the Golfstat NAIA Head-to-Head Rankings. She leads her team with a 72.29 scoring average and of her 14 rounds this season, four have been in the 60s and nine have been in the 70s.
