Rita Ora normally sports scarlet-stained lips with her unruly, blond locks, but for our interview she went with a more neutral palette paired with a Mickey Mouse graphic dress and her signature black Jordans. She was discussing how she was going to have it “rain” streamers into the crowd for her VEVO Lift gig – a taped performance happening in less than five hours and was to be held at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City. It was a technicality that needed more than a day’s worth of planning, but we stayed tight-lipped. What we did notice was her unwavering ease at the issue. You’d think she was a seasoned performer in the business with that sort of confidence, or maybe she’s good at convincing us she’s been in the game for awhile.
“This is my sanctuary — this is my home. This is where I feel most comfortable.” Jason Derulo is seated like a king at the epicenter of a rented studio in Burbank that is encased with a simple, yet modern aesthetic — black leather sofas and muted-colored walls, a switchboard only used by the elite producers, and glass windows dividing the studio from the adjacent sound booth. Dim lighting hovers over us, but Derulo’s demeanor is anything but dark.
Our first introduction to Rachel Crow is impossible to forget. The grinning, effervescent contestant won over hearts as soon as she stepped out on the ‘X Factor‘ stage last year and explained why she deserved to win: “I’m a girl — I need my own bathroom!” Her honesty, paired with booming vocals and hip-throwing attitude, got her to the Top 5 on the show. She represented ‘swagger cuteness,’ if there’s even such a term.
Not only was today (June 19) the release of Justin Bieber‘s latest effort, ‘Believe,’ but it was declared Justin Bieber / J&R Appreciation Day in New York City. And PopCrush was there to capture it all.
The-Dream is not just any other artist. The R&B King’s successful production and songwriting efforts could build an army to run the Top 40 charts. Now, he is putting the finishing touches on his fourth studio album, ‘Love IV,’ ready to hit shelves around Memorial weekend.
To say that B.o.B has a fair amount of collaborations under his belt is an understatement. Hayley Williams of Paramore, Eminem, Lil Wayne and Bruno Mars have all contributed their vocals to his previous singles, with rumored future tracks on ‘Strange Clouds’ including Taylor Swift and again, Eminem. So who would the emcee still like to work with?
On Feb. 20, Rihanna‘s 24th Birthday, the world finally heard the infamous ‘Birthday Cake’ remix, featuring Chris Brown, that was talked about ALL weekend. We know what fans think of the two on the track (they even prefer it over the other RiRi/ Breezy collabo ‘Turn Up the Music’). But what does The-Dream, famed R&B artist and ‘Birthday Cake’ producer, think of the recent track reunion he helmed?
