Despite rumors to the contrary, 'Argo' director Ben Affleck is not vying for a senate seat just yet.

As he announced on his Facebook page on Dec. 24, "I love Massachusetts and our political process, but I am not running for office."

"Right now it's a privilege to spend my time working with Eastern Congo Initiative (ECI), supporting our veterans, drawing attention to the great many who go hungry in the U.S. everyday and using filmmaking to entertain and foster discussion about issues like our relationship to Iran," he added in a note that read more like, “I'm not running for office, but I totally could because look at all these amazing things I'm doing instead.”

Then, because it's required in these sorts of announcements, he said, “There are some phenomenal candidates in Massachusetts for his Senate seat. I look forward to an amazing campaign."

Maybe it's just us, but that sounds like something a candidate who dropped out of a senate race would say.

This of course just proves that Affleck was trolling viewers of CBS' 'Face the Nation,' where during a recent interview he was asked about taking over the senate seat that will probably soon by vacated by Secretary of State nominee John Kerry. Affleck's coy reply? “Well, one never knows. I'm not one to get into conjecture ... I've got a lot on my plate.”

“TROLOLOLOLOLO,” he didn't add, but should have.
