Blink-182 have cancelled their scheduled appearance at New Jersey’s Bamboozle Festival and the rest of their May concerts after drummer Travis Barker underwent an emergency tonsillectomy.

Blink announced the news on their website with a statement that read in part, “Blink-182’s drummer, Travis Barker, required an urgent tonsillectomy with a recovery period expected to extend beyond the scheduled tour dates. The band apologizes for any inconvenience as a result of these cancellations and thanks their fans for their ongoing support.”

Two shows in Oklahoma have been rescheduled for September, while six other dates are cancelled for good. Blink’s European tour, which starts June 7 in the U.K., is still on as planned.

Bamboozle recovered from the news with a Facebook announcement naming My Chemical Romance as Blink-182′s replacement on the bill. Other bands on the lineup for the May 18-20 event in Asbury Park include Foo Fighters, Skrillex and Mac Miller.

As for Barker, he’s been documenting his recovery on Twitter and even posted a graphic photo of the tonsils after they were removed.
