Brooke Mueller is in rehab again, and while she's locked away with her rehab-mate Lindsay Lohan, she's been trying to get her kids -- who were placed with biological daddy Charlie Sheen's ex-wife Denise Richards -- into the custody of her own family.

Key word: trying.

A recent request from Mueller's lawyer to put 4-year-old twins Bob and Max into the care of Brooke's brother was denied on May 10, according to sources for Radar Online.

"There was no second-guessing from the judge, Brooke’s request was shot down. The twins will be staying with Denise Richards for the foreseeable future," snitched an informant. "[They're] flourishing under [her] care, and the judge saw no reason to change that."

Also denied: Mueller's request for supervised visitation rights, as the judge didn't think it would do her sons any good to visit their mother in a rehab facility.

Logic. This judge has it.

This is Mueller's 20th time in rehab (no, that's not a typo). The twins were recently removed from her custody and placed in Richards' care with the approval of daddy Charlie Sheen, who has surprisingly been to rehab less often than his third ex-wife.
