An A-list crowd celebrated the fashion world at last week’s 2012 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where Bruno Mars performed ‘Runaway Baby.’

The video, courtesy of Vogue, opens with a portion of the opera song ‘Nessun Dorma’ by Vittorio Grigolo. Mars comes in around the 1:30 mark to perform the up-tempo track from his platinum debut album ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans.’

Backed up by a powerful horn section, Mars’ performance includes a James Brown dance breakdown and a verse sung through a megaphone. Though never highly-promoted as a single, ‘Runaway Baby’ has proven to be a live favorite for Mars, who played the song at the Grammy Awards and on an episode of  ‘X Factor.’

Showing his versatility, Mars also performed covers of songs by Michael Jackson, Sting and Rick James. He dedicated his biggest hit song to designer Miuccia Prada, saying, “Miuccia, you’re amazing. Just the way you are.”

Beyonce, Lana Del Rey, Rihanna, Cameron Diaz, Mick Jagger, Jimmy Fallon and New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg were among the other big names who attended the event.
