Chris Brown has been added to the all-star lineup of the 2012 Grammy Awards, the same event at which he assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna three years ago.

The Recording Academy announced Brown as a performer at the 54th-annual show, along with Carrie Underwood and Tony Bennett. Rihanna is also scheduled to perform on Sunday.

In 2009, Brown and Rihanna were scheduled to perform together at the awards show, but the ‘Beautiful People’ singer allegedly attacked Rihanna following a pre-Grammy party. Brown is currently serving five years of probation for the felony assault charge.

Brown completed court-ordered domestic violence counseling last year, but the 22-year-old R&B singer let his temper get the best of him at ‘Good Morning America,’ where he allegedly smashed a dressing room window after reporter Robin Roberts pressed him about the assault and conviction. In 2011, Rihanna lifted her restraining order against Brown, and the two have been spotted talking via the social network Twitter.

Brown’s successful 2011 album ‘F.A.M.E. (Forgiving All My Enemies)’ is nominated for three Grammys this year, including Best R&B Album, and Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for ‘Look at Me Now.’ Rihanna is nominated for four awards, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for ‘Loud.’

The Grammys will air live on CBS on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. ET.
