At one point or another, we’ve all fallen victim to the theft of food from an office fridge. In general, most of us chalk it up as a minor annoyance. But police in Deer Park, Texas were so fed up with an office thief that they ran a sting to catch him in the act. And, it turns out, the culprit was a cop.

Officer Kevin Yang was caught on camera taking Monster energy drinks and a Subway sandwich that had been left as bait in a break-room fridge. He was suspended for 30 days without pay and even faces misdemeanor theft charges.

According to Deer Park Police Chief Greg Grigg, complaints of stolen food, including 60 pounds of deer sausage, have been racking up since May 2011. So, the police department ran surveillance on the communal fridge for three weeks in November of last year and caught Yang in the act.

After being caught red-handed, Yang refused to admit or deny his guilt, Grigg said. The alleged fridge thief is scheduled for trial on Feb. 24th. This is much harsher than a passive aggressive sign.
