The Belgian tennis star turned her ankle while performing an undisclosed dance move, resulting in “a severe strain of both the medial and lateral ligaments of the right ankle and a torn ligaments, a torn capsule of the ankle joint, a hematoma and torn tendon sheath,” according to her website.
The injury typically takes four-to-six weeks to heal, and the French Open begins in six weeks.
If she is able to play at Roland Garros, Clijsters would be shooting for her third-straight Grand Slam title, having won the US Open last year and the Australian Open earlier this year.
