Demi Lovato has some advice on how to get famous, and she may have accidentally shaded one of her best friends when she dished it out.

Her tip on becoming an overnight sensation? A sex tape.

Kim Kardashian, are you paying attention?

Talking to the The Guardian, Lovato was blunt: Wanting to be famous is very different from wanting to be an artist.

The 'Heart Attack' singer, who boasts plenty of songwriting credits in her career, explained it beautifully. "When people say 'I want to be famous -- I want to be a star,' you have to ask: 'What are your intentions? If you just want to be famous, make a sex tape,'" Lovato said.

"So what I'd say is, if you're doing it because you want to be a respected actress or musician, follow your dream. If you just want paparazzi following you, rethink what's going on in your little head. It's crazy how people confuse the two nowadays."

Of course, it's unclear to whom exactly Lovato is referring -- if she's in fact thinking of anyone specific at all. But hell if she doesn't make a good point.
