DeTar Healthcare Systems in Victoria have released the following updates regarding their operations and functionality at this time:

Yesterday, the DeTar Healthcare System consolidated resources to DeTar Hospital Navarro. DeTar Hospital North remains closed.

Throughout the storm, DeTar professionals, including 301 staff and 22 physicians remained in-house to care for 80 inpatients. We delivered one baby, performed one emergency surgery and saw 67 patients in the emergency room. We were also able to efficiently evacuate more than 60 patients with the help of transport agencies from around the state of Texas.

Thanks to dedication of our staff and physicians, DeTar Hospital Navarro remains open to deliver emergency medical services, as well as obstetric and pediatric services. Our radiology, laboratory and cardiac catheterization labs are fully functional for emergent medical needs.

Patients with minor illness or injury can seek care at DeTar On Demand starting tomorrow, August 28th. Sidney Ontai, M.D., medical director of DeTar Family Medicine Residency Program, will see patients at the clinic from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The walk-in clinic is located at 9006 N. Navarro St., Suite B.

We continue to evaluate our service capabilities and meet regularly to determine what additional services we can open. Our goal is to resume full operations of DeTar Hospital Navarro as soon as possible this week. Repairs to DeTar Hospital North will be more extensive and we are still assessing how long it will take to reopen and resume operations on that campus.

Cooperation between our city’s emergency management team and agencies throughout our community has made it possible for us to remain available to provide services. We have loaned some of our back-up generator resources to the City of Victoria which has allowed restoration of the city water supply for Victoria resident as well as DeTar Hospital Navarro and Citizens Medical Center.

We are so very proud of our DeTar family and the physicians who are pulling together to support each other and the community."
