Jazz music was a big part of my life growing up, thanks to my Dad. While my own tastes have changed over the years to include rock, blues and jazz fusion, I still love the traditional sound of a great jazz band.

Live jazz is what it's all about this Thursday (April 23) with the Victoria Symphony's Downtown Rhythms. This annual free outdoor concert at O'Connor Plaza starts at 5:30pm and runs until 8:30pm and, features all kinds of great live jazz from the VISD Orchestra, Victoria East Jazz Band, Victoria College Jazz Combo, VISD Directors Jazz Band and the Cuero High School Jazz Band.

There are other cool events too, like the instrument petting zoo, face painting, Battle of the Chefs from Sendara and The Pumphouse restaurants, and more.

Best of all, it's free!
