October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time when the community comes together to raise awareness about this disease. We would like to give a shout out to the students at St. Joseph High school for showing their support.

St. Joseph High School today honored one of our favorite cancer survivors and STJ math teacher, Mrs. Machicek. Thirty seven girls cut their hair to show their support at the PINK OUT Pep Rally to have their hair "Cut for Cancer" today. Students raised money by selling t-shirts and crowd donations. The shirts included Mrs Machicek’s name on the sleeve. Over $1,000 was raised for the foundation. The football players then presented each girl who cut their hair with a rose followed by a sweet hug from Mrs. Machicek herself. A big thank you to Tammy Carter and Sydney Bazan from Bazaar Cuts for coming out to day to cut the girls’ hair.
