Host A Victoria General Baseball Player this Summer
Have you ever thought about be a host family for a Victoria General’s Baseball Player? David and Tammy Murphy have been host families for 2 years now. I asked David what is it like and this is what he had to say below.
The famous song title, “The Boys Are Back In Town” is very fitting for our beloved Victoria Generals! Their return sparks the start of summer and also creates a need for host families. That’s right, not only do fans experience great baseball, but some get the opportunity to serve others and forge life-long friendships in the process. Speaking from our experience of hosting four players over multiple seasons, it was a rewarding experience for my family! The players we hosted, and every player we’ve met, have been very respectful, courteous and self-sufficient. We got to know their families as well and created bonds that continue today, years later, with regular visits and communication! This whole experience began with the hope that we could offer a college baseball player a bed, an occasional meal and to offer ourselves as positive role models. Instead we got four new “sons” with friendships to last a lifetime and countless memories to look back on. If you are considering being a Host Family, know that it can be an enriching experience for you, your family and the player. To reference another song, you’ll never hear “After The Boys Of Summer Have Gone” the same way again!
