Liam Payne appears to be putting his time away from One Direction to very good use.

Payne, who demonstrated a bit of his songwriting skill via Instagram last week, has been tapped by Jennifer Lopez to be the "Booty" singer's next hit-maker, The Sun claims. The site says the fellow performers met during a business meeting in Los Angeles, which has inspired Payne to get moving on tracks he plans to present to J. Lo.

"He’s determined to be the best possible songwriter he can be and is thrilled a music legend like J. Lo would want to work with him," a source told The Sun. "He’s experimenting and having a great time being in the studio without the pressure of performing."

Payne has reportedly established his own company called Hampton Music Limited as he continues to pursue his songwriting career, and is seeking out labels with hopes of signing an exclusive publishing deal. He's already written for 1D and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.
