It’s been a long time since Will Smith focused on his music career — and even longer since his days as a chart-topping, multiplatinum hitmaker.

But for Smith, who achieved fame in the ’80s and early ’90s as one half of DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince before launching a wildly successful acting career — and then returning to music with 1997′s massive ‘Big Willie Style’ — a comeback is never out of the question. And it sounds like that might be exactly what he’s planning.

During a recent interview with XXL, producer La Mars “Mars” Edwards, whose roster of clients includes Snoop Dogg and Wiz Kalifa, casually mentioned that he’s manning the boards for a project with Smith. “We’re working on Will Smith, bringing him back. That’s actually him on the other line right now,” he told the interviewer, sparking immediate speculation.

Smith, who has focused on producing movies in recent years, is currently filming ‘Men in Black III,’ so Edwards could be helming the soundtrack single…or it could be a full-length album.
