Jennifer Hudson celebrated the closure she received from William Balfour’s guilty verdict in a big way — at Six Flags Great America in Chicago. Hudson and her fiance, David Otunga, capped off the rollercoaster trial with literal rollercoasters.

TMZ reports that J-Hud and her hubby blew off some steam with thrill rides at the amusement park less than 24 hours after the verdict was read.

Hudson and her sister, Julia, released a statement following the verdict in which the family expressed compassion for Balfour’s family. “We want to extend a prayer from the Hudson family to the Balfour family,” the statement read. “We have all suffered terrible loss in this tragedy. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled in them that perish: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn upon them (2 Corinthians 4:3-4). It is our prayer that the Lord will forgive Mr. Balfour of these heinous acts and bring his heart into repentance someday.”

Balfour was found guilty of the murders of Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, brother Jason Hudson and seven-year-old nephew Julian King, as well as home invasion, residential burglarly and possession of a stolen vehicle. He is facing mandatory life in prison because of his multiple murder convictions, but the Hudson family rollercoaster may not be over just yet — Balfour is planning to appeal the charges.
