Justin Bieber's mom, Pattie Mallette, is on a book tour. She's on a book tour because she's Justin Bieber's mom.

And guess who she doesn't want to talk about? That's right, her little Canadian phenom son and the very reason she's almost relevant.

Radar Online reports that Mallette's PR team is steering questions away from her troubled teen and back towards her book, to which most people are like, "Wait, she's got a book?"

(Yes, she does, and get this: It's called 'Nowhere But Up: The Story of Justin Bieber's Mom.')

A local source dished, "Although Mallette's handlers warn interviewers to focus on her book and not her son's recent headlines, her book tour unabashedly rides on her pop star son’s massive popularity."

At an autograph signing in Ottawa, Canada, Mallette said, "The way I look at it is regardless of whatever is in the headlines, there are always people who need that hope and inspiration. Regardless of what my son is up to today or tomorrow, it doesn't change the fact that I am out here to share my story with other people because my story is what is going to give them hope."

Hope that they'll someday grow up to have a kid who will make them rich, then pee in buckets and hang out with criminals? That hope? Oh.

She explained that she just can't control her kid because, well, he's not a kid anymore. "At 19, I just hope to still be a voice in his ear. Once he turned 18, he wanted some space from his mom," she said. "I think all 18-year-olds are excited to have some independence … I do what I can do to stay close."

Like going on book tours to talk about how you don't want to talk about your kid. Right.
