Katy Perry could be heading to the big screen. The pop star is reportedly in talks with Paramount Pictures and Imagine Entertainment to create a 3D film featuring live footage.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s still early in the deal-making process, but with the ‘Teenage Dream’ singer’s star power, many sources believe it’s just a matter of time and working out the details.

The site also reports that the possible concert movie project will likely be created in the same style as ‘Justin Bieber: Never Say Never,’ which as earned a whopping $73 million since its February 2011 release. Paramount Pictures was also the backer for the 17-year-old’s film.

Judging by the track record for concert films, the odds of a successful run at the box office are in Perry’s favor. In 2008, Miley Cyrus released her ‘Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour,’ which grossed $65 million. One year later, the Jo Bros unveiled ‘Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience,’ which earned over $19 million domestically.

Other reports claim that Perry’s recent free show in Los Angeles would be taped for a California Dreams Tour DVD, but no release date has been set. Perry has already had a bit of success at the box office. She voiced the character Smurfette in the 2011 animated film ‘The Smurfs,’ which grossed over $142 million in theaters.
