UPDATE (9/29): It's official! Lady Gaga has confirmed that she will perform at the 2017 Super Bowl halftime show.

Gaga posted about the news on Twitter today, writing, "It's not an illusion. The rumors are true. This year the SUPER BOWL goes GAGA!"

The general public has become increasingly invested in which artist(s) will perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, a decision that will never be met with full fan approval due to the sheer volume of Super Bowl viewers. While past rumblings hinted that Adele may have nabbed the coveted slot, the "Hello" singer shut those rumors down quickly and effectively during one of her tour stops, leaving us all to wonder, "Then who?" Unnamed sources have hit back with a possible answer: Lady Gaga.

The "Perfect Illusion" singer is reportedly in talks to perform at the 51st annual Super Bowl come 2017, according to Billboard.

A source reportedly told the publication that Gaga's recent stint at the 2016 Super Bowl -- where her performance of the National Anthem was met with praise from critics across the board — made enough of an impact on the NFL for the organization to consider her a serious contender for next year’s halftime show.

But an NFL rep delivered a vague statement about Gaga's possible involvement, sidestepping any confirmation of the rumor.

“We have had conversations with several fantastic artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, at this point we do not have a final decision,” an NFL rep reportedly told Billboard when asked about Gaga. “We’re happy there is so much excitement about the show."

Still, US Weekly exclusively reported that Lady Gaga is indeed confirmed to perform at the 2017 Super Bowl halftime show.

"Get ready to put your paws up, Little Monsters! Lady Gaga is set to headline the 2017 Super Bowl halftime show, a source confirms to Us Weekly," the gossip publication reports. "Following much speculation, the 'Perfect Illusion' singer, 30, has officially signed on to perform at the 51st annual football championship event at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, on February 5, 2017."

Lady Gaga recently announced that her upcoming fifth solo studio album, Joanne, is due out on October 21. She released the album's lead single, "Perfect Illusion," earlier this month.
