We reported a while back that the number of eligible voters registering to vote in the Presidential election hit new highs in the state, and when it comes to early voting, records are being set here in Victoria county.

County Elections Administrator George Matthews says early voters have set records this week. 2,013 voters cast their ballots yesterday (Friday), raising the total number of in person early voters to 8,071 and the number of mail in votes to 3,241 for a grand total of 10,360.

That trend is consistent statewide, as officials say a number of Texas counties are breaking early voting records.

Early voting continues at the Victoria County Elections Office at 2805 N. Navarro St. For more information, call the Victoria County Elections Office at 361-576-0124.
