Directioners, more details have surfaced about One Direction's upcoming fifth album — courtesy of Liam Payne himself! The singer called into Capital FM to give the scoop on the upcoming project and even described its sound.

"The album's coming together really well actually. The boys we've been writing with have come up with some great, great songs that are kind of like a bit Oasis-y, almost, which is ace," he said. "I love that." Let's all take a moment to (re)watch fetal 1D cover Oasis' "Wonderwall," which is worth it for the boys' beach hair alone.

Oasis isn't the only band inspiring One Direction. Liam also revealed that the guys are also taking a cue from their good friend Ed Sheeran!

“The songs have been coming out a bit more chilled," Liam added. "We want this to be quite a long-lasting album that you can listen to anytime, like Ed’s album. Anytime you can throw on an Ed song and it can always make sense. We're trying to do that."

We are totally on board with this plan, Liam.

Despite the fact that this is One Direction's first album without Zayn Malik (sniffle), we're super excited to hear it. Simon Cowell is confident that fans will love it, telling James Corden, “I have a feeling this year they’re going to deliver the best record they’ve ever made.”

One Direction's fifth studio album is expected to drop this fall.
