We haven’t heard from Mariah Carey in a long time, so this video of Mimi singing a new song for President Obama is very interesting. The R&B songbird was asked to perform at Sarah Jessica Parker’s fundraiser for POTUS in New York on Thursday (June 14), where she debuted a new song.

If you listen carefully to the clip (spotted at The Hollywood Reporter), Carey’s new song ‘Bring It On Home’ sounds like an inspirational ballad similar to her classic 1993 tune ‘Hero.’ The clip circulating around the Web is only 20 seconds long, so we don’t know if she ended her song with the usual climatic high note with her five-octave vocal range.

“Just finished performing Hero, We Belong Together and BRING IT ON HOME – a song I wrote especially for the event,” she tweeted to her Lambs (aka her fans) along with a photo of herself in a black ball gown. “Listening to Bring It On Home, wishing I could put this out! “Strength is what we need and love keeps us alive…,” she later added.

According to eyewitnesses, Carey received a standing ovation from attendees, which included A-List celebs like Bravo’s Andy Cohen, actress Meryl Streep and ‘Project Runway’ host Michael Kors.

Hopefully, this means that Carey is planning to drop some new music very soon.
