National Night Out is a nationwide campaign designed to encourage better relationships between local police departments and the neighborhoods they serve. Typically, they're informal get togethers with neighbors and local officers with a chance to meet one another but, events also include block parties, festivals, parades and other activities.

National Night Out is set for October 4th, and Victoria police encourage residents who want to put together events to celebrate to register with the department so that your event will be on the list to be visited by police officers, firefighters and EMS personnel with their vehicles and equipment and even bring giveaways for children.

To find out more, you're invited to a Annual Community Safety Fair and National Night Out Kickoff Party, which takes place from 11am to 3pm on Saturday, September 24th at Victoria Community Center.

Booths and entertainment will be a part of the festivities, and businesses and organizations that would like to be involved can call 361-485-3808 for more information.
