Regis Philbin, whose long run at ‘ABC Live! With Regis and Kelly’ ended with a star-studded sendoff earlier this month, is eyeing a return to television.

In an interview with The New York Post, the 80-year-old said he has formed a production company with former ‘Live with Regis and Kathie Lee’ director Barry Glazer, among others, and they have begun to develop what could be a prime time talent show.

“We’re contemplating a show that is sort of a talent show, but it involves the whole family,” Philbin said. “A family competition, which is something new in our business. It’s going to be on prime time when it happens.”

Regis also dissed on his much-ballyhooed departure from ‘Live!,’ saying he found it over-the-top. “It’s all this farewell stuff that [‘Live!’ executive producer Michael] Gelman ran for weeks, shoving it down people’s throats,” he said. “It’s too much! People come to say goodbye… I’m not retired yet, I’m just moving on.”
