Rick Ross’ ‘God Forgives, I Don’t’ Tops the Billboard 200 Chart
The Bawse is back on top! Rick Ross‘ ‘God Forgives, I Don’t’ premiered at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart this week after pushing 218,000 copies, according to Nielsen Soundscan. This makes it Rozay’s fourth chart-topper in his illustrious career as a MC.
The album outsold his previous release ‘Teflon Don,’ which sold 176,000 copies in his first week of release in 2010. According to Billboard, Ross has collected more No. 1 albums than some of the veteran rappers in the game like Snoop Dogg and Lil Wayne who both have three apiece. The only rap artist with more No. 1s is Jay-Z (12 chart-toppers) who appears on Rozay’s posse track ‘3 Kings‘ with Dr. Dre.
Elsewhere on the charts, fellow rapper Nas remains in the Top 10 with his release ‘Life Is Good.’ The LP dropped four notches from No. 2 to No. 6 with 32,000 copies sold.
Meanwhile, Rozay’s Maybach Music Group are gracing the cover of VIBE’s “Juice” issue, which is on newsstands now. In the cover story, Ross was asked if his future plans were to hang up the mic for the comforts of the boardroom. “I wouldn’t be able to tell you that,” he tells the magazine. “I just love to be around music, in whatever capacity. If it’s just putting out artists or making music myself or producing, we have a lot of different things going on. I’mma be a big boy in this game for a long time.”
Today (Aug. 8), Ross went on his Twitter account to thank his fans for making ‘GFID’ No. 1 and added that he’s has a surprise coming next Tuesday (Aug. 14).
