Robin Williams to Return to TV for CBS Sitcom?

Could Mork be headed back to Earth?  It seems Robin Williams’ bite from the TV acting bug might have been bigger than his recent ‘Louie‘ and ‘Wilfred‘ appearances, as the legendary funnyman may have his eye on a new gig at CBS.  But what could have lured Williams back to a regular role after over 30 years off the tube, and why does the project have ‘Mad Men‘s Don Draper feeling a shiver up his spine?

Faster than you can say “shazbot,” Robin Williams may be beaming through your TV screen once more.  According to Entertainment Weekly, the comedian is mulling over a return to the small screen with Emmy-winning writer/producer David E. Kelley.  If successful, the single-camera sitcom would see Williams in a father/daughter workplace comedy set in the world of advertising.

20th Century Fox TV would produce the series along with Kelley and Bill D’Elia, which would most likely go to CBS.  Williams would be the second iconic star to return to their TV roots in recent weeks, including the lucrative pickup that one-time ‘Family Ties’ star Michael J. Fox netted for his new comedy series over at NBC.  Williams of course got his first big break in 1978 as the titular star of ‘Mork & Mindy,’ which lasted until 1982.

What say you?  Would you like to see Robin Williams return to TV as a sitcom star?  What other big names would you like to see tackle their own shows?  Tell us what you think of Robin’s new series in the comments below!
