Just as Rihanna is always reinventing her looks (have you seen her awesome black hair yet?), the ‘Smash‘ cast loves reinventing popular songs. Katharine McPhee and Co. have taken RiRi’s hit from ‘Loud,’ ‘Cheers (Drink to That)’ and put their own twist on the track.

The cover will premiere on tonight’s episode, ‘Hell on Earth.’ In tonight’s episode, Eileen puts Tom and Julia in charge of finding a new title for the reworked Marilyn Monroe musical. Of course, the drama doesn’t stop there — does it ever? Karen (McPhee) and her rival, Ivy (Megan Hilty, who is also featured on the cover song) compete not just for a role of Marilyn, but also for a part in an orange juice commercial.

The song is pretty loyal to its source material, even featuring the “ay-yay” background vocals, though this time it’s by the cast, not an Avril Lavigne sample. Take a listen to the track below and tune in to ‘Smash’ tonight at 10PM on NBC. We’re pretty intrigued at how Ivy’s character, who has a problem with prescription drugs, will take to performing a song about booze!
