The odds of this student winning the big prize were no slam dunk.

Gustavo Angel Tamayo, a student at Bryan College in Tennessee, won $10,000 in tuition money when he sunk a lay-up, a free throw, a 3-pointer and a half-court in 30 seconds. The kicker? Tamayo had never played basketball before. An even bigger kicker? He had a broken finger on his left hand.

Tamayo is originally from Britain and soccer is his game of choice, but it's hard to imagine he showed as much of a talent for it the first time he played as he did for basketball. He won the prize as part of Bryan's Late Night Roar, an event designed to generate hype for the upcoming basketball season.

Maybe it's just us, but we can't picture the season getting any more exciting that it did after he won the prize.
