John Cougar, Johnny Cougar, John Cougar Mellencamp, John Mellencamp. Regardless of what you call him, there’s no question as to why he is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Last Saturday night in Austin, Mellencamp made one of his two Texas appearances for his current “No Better Than This” tour. When you couple Mellencamp’s great stage presence with the new Moody Theatre on Willie Nelson Boulevard (2nd Street) in downtown Austin, you knew it was going to be a great show. Although, there was apprehension on our part on how Mellencamp was going to integrate his new project cd/album into his show, in the end it was a flawless presentation.

One day, three meals, and a 20 dollar bill
Breakfast:
I live 10 minutes from work. This typically means that on any given day I roll out of bed about 20 minutes before it’s time to be at work. My breakfast generally consists of a cup of coffee with a side of coffee. I’m just not a breakfast/morning person.

However, for the sake of journalism and for you, dear reader, I made the sacrifice of getting up a whole 15 minutes early.

To paraphrase that beer swilling, most interesting man guy, I don’t always eat breakfast but when I do, it’s a breakfast taco. With the goal of cheap *and* tasty in mind, I jumped in my car and headed for Taqueria El Rodeo.

Housework, The Never Ending Battle

My least favorite aspect of being a mom and wife is HOUSEWORK. Yuck! I don’t know if you’ve ever heard the quote, ‘cleaning house while you still have children is like shoveling the drive while it’s still snowing’ but that is exactly how it is!

If I clean while the kids are at school, it’s much easier to get it done, but as soon as the walk in the door, it looks like an explosion of backpacks, shoes and homework. If I clean while they are here, it’s even more pointless. As soon as I have one spot clean, they swarm to it like angry bees. Needless to say my house is never clean for very long.
Luckily my kids are getting old enough to help out. My daughter has dish washing duty (loading the dishwasher). Is it wrong that I assigned her one of my least favorite things to do? My 5 year old clears the table and wipes it down after dinner and they all help out picking up their toys.
