In one of the nuttiest attempts at reconciliation we’ve ever seen, a 32-year-old verbally-abusive man from India sliced off his own tongue to win back his estranged wife. If cutting off a body part doesn’t say “I’m sorry,” we don’t know what does.

According to reports, Bunty Verman, a TV repairman from Sendhwa, India, frequently insulted his wife to the point where she left and took their daughter with her. Verman was so devastated that he sliced off his tongue in attempt to cure himself. Then, he wrote to his wife with an apology and explained that his tongue was responsible for the abuse.

Unfortunately, there’s no information on whether his wife accepted the bizarre (and probably incredibly painful) apology. Verman was later admitted to a hospital for treatment, however.
