It's always great when you can report positive news for your hometown, especially when it's something that ranks on a national level. On that note, we're happy to report great economic news for the Victoria area.

In a story published in The Victoria Advocate, Victoria was in the top 3% of fastest-growing metro areas in 2014. As a matter of fact, Victoria is in good company with 4 other Texas cities that share the good news.

According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, Victoria joined the cities of Midland, San Angelo, Dallas-Ft. Worth and Corpus Christi on the list, which shows rankings on increases in a city's growth in gross domestic product.

Victoria Economic Development Corporation President Dale Fowler was quoted as saying "Increases in GDP from year to year show a stable economy for the region that usually translates into good jobs for people in the area."
