Theodor Geisel — better known as Dr. Seuss — died more than a decade ago, but his legend lives on. Case in point? The movie ‘Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax’ opened strong with $70.7 million in revenues, topping the box office charts this weekend.

In a distant second, ‘Project X’ bowed with $20.7 million, while last week’s champ, ‘Act of Valor,’ brought in $13.7 million for third.

Meanwhile, ‘Safe House’ had a $7.2 million haul for fourth, and ‘Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds’ completed the top five by bringing in $7 million.
