Texas is a big state. There are numerous kinds of companies and industries in our state so, naturally there are lots of options when it comes to working. What do you think the most common job in the state would be? The answer might surprise you.

According to a report from NPR, the most common job is truck driver. Based on data from the U.S. Census Bureau, truck driver is pretty common nationwide, and there are some good reasons for it.

Looking back, the report says that in 1978, the most common Texas job was secretary. It remained that way until around 1994, when truck driver took over. Interesting. For the complete report, click here.
