Texas Mother Grieving After Her 2 Children Were Shot and Killed
A mother is grappling with the loss of her 6-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son who were devastatingly both shot and killed two weeks apart.
SUSPECT TAMPERS WITH EVIDENCE
The Dallas police have arrested 18-year-old Damariya Sowels, charging him with evidence tampering related to the case. The authorities revealed that an unsecured gun inside the home, belonging to Sowels, was involved in the incident.
Sowels admitted to leaving two firearms on a PlayStation in one of the bedrooms, as outlined in the arrest warrant affidavit. Following the shooting, he concealed the guns in a backpack and hid them in the garage.
MOTHER LOSES 2 CHILDREN IN LESS THAN A MONTH
Police discovered the weapons during their search of the residence. Shockingly, the child's mother was not present at the time, as she was at a funeral home arranging services for her 14-year-old son, Ah'bralen Rider, who had tragically lost his life in a New Year's Eve shooting on Harry Hines Boulevard in Oak Lawn.
A COMMUNITY DEVASTATED
The devastating news has left the community in grief. Markia Boyd, a resident in the complex where the incident occurred, expressed her heartbreak and shock. Boyd, a mother herself, empathized with the pain, saying, "It hurts cause I have a 7-year-old, and when I see the little girl going to school, that's sad."
The community is grappling with the sorrowful reality of losing two young lives within a short span, underscoring the urgent need for gun safety and vigilance in households.
