Altuve Makes MLB History as Astros Continue to Roll
ALTUVE MAKES HISTORY:
The Houston Astros have just swept the Texas Rangers for the SECOND TIME this season and Jose Altuve has made history along the way. He became the first player to follow a walk-off grand slam with a leadoff homer in the next game. Jose wasn't done yet either, for bonus points, he homered a second time in last night's game. Altuve's batting average has risen to.294 and has 15 home runs and 36 RBI'S thanks to his recent power surge. Keep in mind that Altuve is registering these numbers in the leadoff spot in the batting rotation. The Houston Astros bats are on fire right now and the Astros are finding their offensive groove. This is awesome considering the news about Bregman.
WHAT HAPPEN TO BREGMAN:
Bregman strained his left quad attempting to beat out a double play in the first inning. He came up limping in his final strides to first base. The quad strain is not Bregman’s first leg injury. He spent time on the IL late in 2020 with a right hamstring strain. As reported by the Houston Chronicle, manager Dusty Baker said “it looks like we’ve lost Bregman for a while” but then added the severity of the injury is not yet known and will be further evaluated Thursday.
THE AL WEST RACE IS GONNA BE GOOD
Although the Houston Astros have found a groove and are 10-4 in June, they still sit in second place in the AL West. The Oakland Athletics are playing just as well. Get your popcorn ready. The AL West standings as of 6/17/21:
1. Oakland Athletics 43-27 .614
2. Houston Astros 39-28 .582 2.5
The Houston Astros begin a four-game series with the Chicago White Sox tonight at Minute Maid. The Athletics and the Astros won't meet again until July 6th-July 8th. LET'S GO ASTROS!
