Two Students Injured in Early Morning Texas School Shooting

Students at Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas were sent home Monday morning after police ambushed the area.

STUDENTS INJURED IN SHOOTING

Just minutes before 7 am Monday morning police quickly rush over to Lamar High School. Reports of shots fired were called in around 6:55 am. According to the Arlington Police Department, "Two students were injured and are now receiving medical care."

When the shots were fired many students had not arrived at school yet. Arlington Police Department explained, "The school day does not typically begin until 7:35 am -- and so school was not in session and not all students had arrived on campus when this incident occurred."

PARENTS RESPOND TO SHOOTING

Police have not given an official update on the status of the two students, however, some of the parents who were at the school during the shooting posted to social media.

One mother said she was dropping her son off at school when shots were fired.

The comment reads, "It was 7:00 am when I was dropping my son off when I got there all the cops started arriving and I saw them giving CPR to someone by the front entrance. I told my son to stay in the car and not get off there we're cops everywhere. Brought him back home and he's a little shaken up. I wish there was an update on this matter."

SHOOTER IN CUSTODY

Police are saying they "do not believe the suspected shooter ever entered the school". The suspected shooter was quickly identified and taken into custody by police.
