Avril Lavigne Engaged to Chad Kroeger: See the Funniest Twitter Reactions

Last night (Aug. 21), it was revealed that Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger are engaged. Uh, we didn’t even know that these two Canadian pop music titans were dating. So score one for the happy couple for keeping the relationship under wraps and out of the public eye for so long. She last made headlines for dating Brody Jenner, a Kardashian by proxy, since he is Bruce Jenner’s son and Bruce is married to Kardashian Klan matriarch Kris.

But back to newly-engaged couple. Apparently, sparks flew and love blossomed between Av and the Kroeg while they worked together in the studio on her upcoming album.

In addition to media reaction to the betrothal, fans have taken to Twitter to express their joy and support at the impending nuptials and to share excitement. Um, no. Not. Even. Close. The well-wishes were in short supply, actually.

Lots of music fans were appalled that Lavigne announced the engagement on Jenner’s birthday. Remember, she and Jenner were pretty serious, getting tattoos of each other’s names. We’re guessing those have been lasered off or covered by now and her name is forbidden from being uttered on any of the Kardashian Klan E! shows.
