Baby Dies After Being Left in Scorching Hot Car in Corpus Christi
In a tragic incident that has shocked the Corpus Christi community, a 33-year-old woman, Hilda Ann Adame, was arrested Tuesday after her 22-month-old child was found dead inside a hot vehicle parked outside Browne Middle School.
The vehicle was located on school grounds at 4301 Schanen Blvd., where Adame is employed by Communities in Schools.
SERIOUS CHARGES TO COME
Adame, who was booked into the Nueces County Jail Tuesday night, faces serious charges including injury to a child with serious bodily injury, with a bond set at $700,000, and abandoning and endangering a child in imminent danger, with a bond of $200,000. She remains in custody pending bond arrangements.
SCHOOL NURSE GIVES CPS TIL HELP ARRIVES
The tragedy unfolded when Corpus Christi police and fire personnel arrived at the scene at 1:29 p.m. Tuesday to find a school nurse administering CPR to the child. Despite the efforts to revive the toddler, the child was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
FORGOTTEN IN THE BACKSEAT
Adame reportedly told police she forgot to drop her child off at daycare that morning, and subsequently forgot the child was in the vehicle when she parked at the school. The exact duration the child was left unattended in the vehicle remains unknown. The incident has left the community grappling with grief and questions about how such a heartbreaking oversight could occur.
