Baby Born in Philippines Declared World’s Seven Billionth Person
Danica May Camacho was born in Manila, Philippines just before midnight on Sunday, weighing five-and-a-half pounds.
But a much larger number will always be associated with the baby girl, as the UN has declared her the world’s seven billionth person.
“She looks so lovely,” Danica’s proud mom, Camille Dalura, told reporters. “I can’t believe she is the world’s seven billionth.”
The UN has named October 31 Seven Billion Day, and the organization plans on having a few other babies born around the world share the symbolic recognition with Danica.
For being one of the seven billionth, Danica received a small cake from UN officials (not that she can eat it), and will be given a scholarship for her education.
