Airbags can save lives, but as James Corden and Carrie Underwood proved on last night's (December 2) Late Late Showthere's no comfort quite like having Christ in the driver's seat.

The latest edition of the talk show's Carpool Karaoke segment found the "Smoke Break" singer belting out her latest hit, among others. Corden decided to test the message behind Underwood's 2005 breakout "Jesus, Take The Wheel," so he let go of the helm on a Los Angeles main road, an act Evel Knievel would likely find too dangerous.

"It's happened, I think Jesus has taken the wheel," Corden says in the video above as the vehicle sharply shifts and Carrie's faith is tested.

"Oh, God!" she yelps, her composure shot to hell.

And since Corden was in the rare company of one of country music's biggest stars, he decided to seek Underwood's expertise in becoming a bona fide cowboy. In other words, he tried on some boots and a tanned leather vest a pit stop.

Ultimately, he only went for a hat, but Carrie seemed proud of her new Nashville protege.

"I think it's a fine choice," she says. "You gotta dip your toe in the cowboy waters."

We'll say this much: Corden certainly looks the part as he and Carrie see out their adventure with a "Before He Cheats" rendition.
