September 3rd is dubbed 'National Cinema Day' and movie theatres around the Country are offering $3 admission no matter the time of day or the film format. That includes Cinemark in Victoria. This means that you can enjoy a $3 movie on a Saturday!  Not only will you get to enjoy a flick at a throwback price. You can also enjoy a $3 small popcorn, $3 medium fountain drink or ICEE, and $3 any sized candy.

AMC and Regal are also among those participating and are also including deals to go alongside the $3 admission.  AMC tweeted it also will offer a $5 drink-popcorn combo.

The Cinema Foundation, a non-profit arm of the National Association of Theater Owners, on Sunday announced that Sept. 3 will be a nationwide discount day in more than 3,000 theaters and on more than 30,000 screens.  The foundation chose Labor Day because it is traditionally one of the slowest weekends in theaters.  Just in case you didn't know, the average cost of a move admission was $9.57 in 2021

TAKE US BACK TO THE DAYS OF THE PLAYHOUSE, DOLLAR MOVIES:

I personally think that the Playhouse (Dollar Movies) had the most personality of the original Victoria movie theatres. I mean, every theater was a different size. On the left was that huge big-time theatre and right next to it was the smallest theater that I have seen to this date. This was the Friday night spot for me. You could start out at the adjacent Pizza Hut and take in a dollar flick.
