Exclusive: Opening Date for New Victoria Restaurant Revealed

We are so excited about the grand opening of LaVaca BBQ opening right here in Victoria Texas, that we can hardly wait.

And luckily for us, that wait is almost over! 

LaVaca BBQ in Victoria, which is located at 2001 N Navarro is just weeks away from its grand opening.

LaVaca BBQ has been featured in Texas Monthly's Top 50 BBQ places in Texas as well as internationally acclaimed EATER Smoke Point magazine as well!

You might remember our first interview with the LaVaca BBQ owners, Mr. and Mrs. Nevarez back in January 2021, when LaVaca BBQ first made waves and the Top 50 list with their Texas Monthly win! At the time we could not foresee we'd be lucky enough to have LaVaca BBQ right here in Victoria just a few months later... well, a year and eight months later... but still.

Just for reference, one of the coolest aspects of LaVaca BBQ being listed as a Top 50 in Texas was that they made the list after only being OPEN FOR THREE MONTHS before their win!

The feature article in Texas Monthly which debuted in February 2020 offered, "Ask Lupe Nevarez about the joint’s specialty, and the answer is surprising: smoked tamales."

Yep, they don't just serve award-winning BBQ. They serve award-winning smoked tamales too oh and their in-house smoked Sinful Texas cheesecakes too!

Christine Nevarez, who is the BBQ tamale mesa queen of LaVaca BBQ told me this morning that they will be opening either the" last week of August or the first week of September."

Also on the horizon are the five new restaurants still under construction on North Navarro, across from Lowe's. The restaurants are Dunkin Donuts, McAllisters, Arby's and Burger King and Taco Bueno. You can read about them in our original article here. I live on that side of the city and seriously, these new restaurants are coming along quickly!
