Undercover Cop Busts Austin Man with Over 12 Grams of Fentanyl
Police discover fentanyl-laced marijuana during a huge drug bust in Austin, Texas.
OPIOID-RELATED OVERDOSES SURGE IN JUST A WEEK
Austin Police Department sought to investigate a recent explosion of opioid-related overdoses. During their investigation, they witness multiple hand-to-hand drug transactions.
UNDERCOVER OFFICER ENGAGES WITH CRIMINALS
As part of the investigation, an undercover officer was sent out to make contact with a man. The officer approached the man and engaged in a conversation. The officer asked the man for crack cocaine.
The man pulls two pieces from his jacket and exchanges $40 with the undercover officer. That's when officers arrested the man identified as 42-year-old Kanady Arkangelo Rimijo.
MASSIVE FENTANYL DRUG BUST IN AUSTIN
This arrest led to a fairly large drug bust. According to the Austin Police Department, the man had a total of 12.16 grams of fentanyl. Part of the drugs discovered were fentanyl-laced marijuana and fentanyl-laced crack cocaine.
"That is a huge amount if it’s pure fentanyl, it takes a very minimal amount of fentanyl to have the effect intended, and it takes just a little more than a minimal amount to kill somebody, " said Austin Attorney Sam Bassett.
