‘Friends’ Actor Ron Leibman Dies at 82
Actor Ron Leibman has passed away at 82-years-old on Friday (December 6).
The 82-year-old passed away from pneumonia, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
The actor was best known for his role as Rachel's (Jennifer Aniston) dad on the beloved sitcom, Friends. Initially, he turned down the role on the popular sitcom, until his daughter, who was a big fan of the show, convinced him to take the role. Leibman revealed in an interview with A.V. Club that he took the role for her to meet the cast.
Throughout his career, he won many accolades including a Tony Award for his theatrical role in Tony Kushner's play, Angels in America: Millenium Approaches.
In 1987, Leibman was nominated for a Golden Globe for his supporting role in the television film, Christmas Eve. He won an Emmy Award in 1979 for his role as Martin "Kaz" Kazinsky in the true-crime drama, Kaz.
Fans may also recognize the actor from films including Slaughterhouse-Five, Norma Rae or Garden State.
The actor is survived by his wife, actress Jessica Walter. His agent has not revealed any other details surrounding his death.
