As the first vaccines started to roll into Victoria yesterday, the Hospital Occupancy rose to over 16 percent.  Here are the latest COVID numbers for Victoria, as of 12/17/2020:

38 new, confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Victoria County

269 currently active cases of COVID-19 in Victoria County

104 total deaths

5,515 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Victoria County

16.81% COVID Hospitalizations out of Total Hospital Capacity in Victoria County *

The hospital rates have slowly risen from earlier this week. On Saturday the rate dipped to 14.08%, then again on Monday to 14.78%.

The number we need to be at is 15% per Governor Greg Abbott's Executive Order GA-32 that went into effect on Wednesday, October 14, 2020.

High hospitalization rates are deemed as any Trauma Service Area (TSA) that has had seven consecutive days in which the number of COVID- 19 hospitalized patients as a percentage of total hospital capacity exceeds 15 percent, which thus initiates the reduction of capacity in restaurants and potentially the closing of bars.

Let's continue to social distance and work to bring these numbers down.

Here is something that might help... the vaccine!

The first shipment of COVID-19 vaccines arrived at the Citizens Medical Center yesterday morning and the first dosages were administered, while the general public won’t be able to access the vaccine until early spring. When the vaccine becomes available to the general public, the vaccine would be available at local hospitals, medical centers, and pharmacies.

As for now, please continue to practice social distancing and wear your mask.  Together, we can bring these numbers down.
